Vetting a newsletter before a sponsorship

1. Trend. Is the follower line rising, flat or falling? From Nov 7, 2026 the 7-day change shows directly.
2. Board history. Does the writer hold a Bestsellers spot across reads, or flicker on and off?
3. Paid band. Substack's band shows the paid audience's order of magnitude.
4. Recommenders. Who sends readers? A large, relevant recommender is a good sign; a cluster of tiny unrelated ones less so.
5. Verified numbers. If the writer claimed their page, they may show open rate and exact paid count.
6. Compare. Put 2 to 5 candidates in Compare; "Recommended by more than one" shows audience overlap.
