Benchmarks: open rates and conversion, by category and size

Substack doesn't publish open rates, conversion to paid or revenue for anyone but you. These come from writers who verified their page here and shared their own. A group needs 5 writers before anything about it shows.

0 writers have shared. 0 pages are verified.

How it works

  • Writers prove a page is theirs with a code in their Substack bio. Only verified writers can share.
  • I check paid subscribers against the band Substack shows on the profile, and email subscribers against the rounded subscriber count. Numbers that don't fit are refused.
  • Groups are by the writer's main category and follower count when they shared.
  • Conversion is paid subscribers divided by all email subscribers. The range is the middle half of writers (25th to 75th percentile).
  • You see the numbers once you've shared yours. The count per group is public, so you can see where the data is thin.
