Getting started

Stackblade keeps a daily record of Substack writers: follower counts, where they rank on Substack's category leaderboards, and who recommends whom. Most of it is free and needs no account.

Find a writer

Press Ctrl K (or /) anywhere and type a name or handle. Or paste a profile link (substack.com/@name) or a publication address (name.substack.com) into the box on the home page. If I'm not tracking the writer, the lookup starts their history today.

Read a writer page

The top answers the common question in one sentence. Below: followers by day, leaderboard positions on every read, the recommendation network, and who recommends writers like them. More on writer pages.

Keep watch

Press Watch on any writer. Free accounts hold 5 writers; Pro holds 100 and sends digests. Changes show in your dashboard and under the bell.

How far back the data goes

Follower counts and board positions start on Oct 31, 2026. Substack doesn't publish past numbers, so nobody can fill in earlier days. Recommendation start dates are Substack's own and go back to 2022.
